Please contact our sales agents.
See the price item above. As for your currency, it is impossible for us to make the conversions as markets fluctuate too much. You can use the following link for an estimation.
Not exactly.. But if you insist, we'll be happy to sell it to you for a quarter million dollars. :-)
Please use our agents, they and only they handle the sale of A-Minima.
Please see our agent page.
We have no idea of the availabilty of A-Minima cameras on the second hand market, although we doubt that there is one yet.
ItDelivery time is about 2 to 4 weeks from PO and payment reception. Please contact your agent either directly or through the online form.
That's strictly an agent policy.
Please contact your authorized Aaton agent about this.
The A-Minima accepts both PL and Nikon lens mounts, and you are free to order one or the other, or both if you feel you can do the swap (although we strongly advice that you go through a certified Aaton maintenance facility).
Handled by our agents.
No it's not. Right now the only films available are all listed on Kodak's site.
Of course ! An A-Minima shot film is identical to any other 16mm film, it can be processed in any professionnal film lab around the world.
The A-minima is currently only fitted for 200' size spool. The very construction of the camera makes driving any other spool diameter impossible. But we can foresee the availability of polyester based film, making the lengh of the film 40% longer.
Not only (crystal controlled) audio-sync. But moreover it records AatonCode II, making it a perfect solution for slateless shooting.
The A-Minima lens port, gate and viewfinder are super16 centered. But no one's stopping you from shooting standard 16 (there is a standard 16 sub-frame in the viewfinder) provided the telecine operator receives the proper instructions to only scan the standard 16 part of the negative.
Yes.
With a Super 16 camera like the A-Minima, even if I use a standard 16mm lens such as an ARRI T3, because the gate has been enlarged for Super 16MM, I believe I will expose the film on the area required by the optical track. Is this correct ?
That's correct for the negative only!
but since this area is not illuminated in a standard 16 printer, remains a virgin space for the sound track, exactly as if you were shooting St16!And if it is, is there any chance that you can provide an interchangeable gate for the A-Minima - a standard gate and a Super 16 gate.
What we do is to put standard 16 marks in the viewing screen. It's less expensive to get a Super16 gate (knowing the extra unused film area will not be printed, thus never seen) so we do not make a standard16 gate.
And the day you decide to shoot Super16, or sell your camera, you will be happy to have this gate from day one!Not everyone wants to a) blow up to 35 from 16mm, or b) edit with Avid, and if they do edit with Avid that can be done using a standard 16mm camera.
Agreed! that's why we give that possibility with the St16 frame in the viewfinder.
This camera brings a new relationship between the operator and its instrument, making it possible to experiment more, invent new ways to shoot, new angles etc..
Yes. There is a small accessory (available by sept 2001) which allows control of the camera (on/off, speed, intervallometer, etc.) through a computer laptop.
Out of the video assist, there is a BNC for VTR and/or big monitor and lemo with power/video to an LCD on-board screen.
No. 50fps is the very maximum (on an external power-supply).
Yes. A-Minima accepts an Aaton designed black/white video tap, directly mounted onto the assistant's side.
Nope. Only Kodak is available since they handled the tooling of the special spool flanges.
Answer coming soon.
We dug into this and found that the system is too cumbersome and doesn't work within buildings. We stopped that development.
The powerbase accepts standard accessory rods so any matte box can be fitted.
There is no way to control the shutter speed, it's set to 1/4 sec.
Yes of course, since it is crystal controlled.
Since the mounts are either PL or Nikon, it comes with no lens. Lenses are your choice to make.
It depends on the lens. :-)
We heard Scubacam is working on one (a splashbag). It should be shown at Showbiz in june, with probable production starting in september. Stay tuned.
Any light and small super16 zoom lens (PL or Nikon mount).
Yes. Go over to the information request page and fill the form. Once we have that info, we'll be happy to send a brochure to you.
You can download a PDF format manual right now, from the following link. As well we have the manual online, as HTML. Check it out now. We only send paper manuals with the actual camera, so if you really want a paper one, get an A-Minima ! :-)
Holland Equipment rents the A-Minima, so you can see it there. For all other countries please refer to our rental-house page.
For the time being (April 2001) several features films are being with shot with the A-Minima (parts anyway). We will update this section when they hit the theaters.
Yes AbelCineTech (our American agent) has another FAQ on his wonderful A-Minima information center. We encourage you to visit it.
You can ask any questions you wish on the Information request form / Feedback page, and we will try our best to answer you.
